Top Code To Image Tools That Will Make Everyone In Your Team Like You

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

I once wanted to share a code snippet and had the bright idea to type some JavaScript code on Repl and screenshot it.

As you can see, it wasn't such a bright idea in hindsight. If I hadn't found these code-to-image tools, you would see hideous screenshots of code snippets. So to save any of us from ever seeing anything like that again, I've compiled a list of code-to-image tools. I will not mention every feature, but only the important ones or ones that stand out. After sorting through dozens of code-to-image tools, these are my top picks:

With only three customizable settings, Codepng is the most simple. Its UI is simple, sleek, and user-friendly. If you want a quick tool, you should choose this.

Ray.so has a few more features than Codepng, while also being straightforward. The main difference is more options with size and background. There are also more export options, you can either download/copy the image or copy a URL. If you want a simple but not too bare-bone of a tool, you should choose this.

CodeImage has a simple and sleek UI. It also has more features than the last two. For example, one notable feature is the background opacity change. Another one is the option of tab styles. When exporting it, you can either download/copy the image or copy a URL. If you're looking for a tool that balances simplicity and customizability, you should choose this.

The main feature of 10015 Tools' Code to Image Converter are the watermark options. Text only, avatar image + text, and Twitter handle. The position and font color of the watermark is also changeable. If you want cooler watermarks, you should choose this.

CodeImg is a little more advanced than most tools, but it is also simple. When you load it up, there are a few size templates to choose from according to the social network. However, the size isn't limited to those templates. CodeImg doesn't have any unique features. Instead, it over-encompasses the main features of most tools. If you want to share larger portions of code on social media, you should choose this.

Carbon is the most customizable option in this list. For example, you can have a custom color palette for the theme. You can also change the font size and line height. There is also a multitude of ways of exporting this. If you want a more advanced tool, you should choose this.

Did I Miss One?
