2 Major Reasons JavaScript Is Cool

Updated: Dec 22, 2022

#1 A Large And Established Presence

Created in 1995 by Brendan Eich, JavaScript has since grown into one of the most popular coding languages. It is used in many different technology fields, but predominantly on the web. 97.4% of websites use JavaScript as a client-side programming language. Its frameworks are also some of the most popular in the world. In 2022, the top 4 most wanted web frameworks and technologies are all JavaScript frameworks. There are so many resources to learn JavaScript from, including courses, videos, posts, articles, and forums. There are tons of videos, some having hours of content. There are about 10,000 results for “JavaScript” on Udemy, and about 321 results for "JavaScript" on Coursera. There are about 6,320,000,000 results for "JavaScript" on Google. If you have any questions, there is a large JavaScript community to ask. On StackOverflow, there are 2,455,291 active questions tagged [javascript]. Its presence also isn't limited to the online space. Below, I have attached covers of books sold in the real world! Yes, outside of the matrix we call the world wide web. With such a large and established presence JavaScript is a straightforward language to learn and use.

#2 Cool Stuff Can Be Made + It's Fun To Make

I still look back to the fond memories I have of those late nights of coding. Doesn't matter how much it frustrated me back then, the satisfaction still brings a smile to my face. I debugged for days to find out I had used a colon instead of a semicolon. I encourage you to try out coding if you haven't. Doesn't have to be JavaScript, although I would recommend it if you're just starting. From a calculator to the functions of a dynamic site to machine learning, JavaScript is a versatile and flexible coding language. Whether you want to build a website, a cross-platform app, or process information/data, JavaScript might be right for you. There are some extra pros too. Unlike Python, it's not too slow, and unlike Java, it's easy to learn. It can also help you get that dough. Currently, JavaScript is also one of the most in-demand programming languages. On Indeed, there are 17,517 developer job postings in "Remote" with the skill JavaScript.

Conclusion

Two reasons that attribute to the coolness of JavaScript are a large and established presence, and cool stuff can be made with it. Its large and established presence allows for a straightforward language to learn and use. The cool stuff you can make with JavaScript is limitless, and you will look back fondly on the times you were making them.
